Read: Philippians 3:7-16
I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. Philippians 3:14 KJV
With everything that goes on in our lives, it sometimes becomes hard not to focus on the past.
The pressures, and responsibilities that we face can make it hard to keep moving forward.
That is the type of perspective the Apostle Paul had concerning life.
He recognized that his spiritual growth had not gotten to the point it needed to be.
That he had a long way to go in his goal to be more like Christ.
He had to figure out what he could do.
Making the decision on whether he wanted to remain wrapped up in the past.
Dwelling on his failures, disappointments, struggles and disputes.
Or would he learn from them and move on to what was next in his life.
His decision is stated in Philippians 3.
Paul is telling us how he chose to live his life.
He chose to forge the things that were behind him.
Being determined to reach forward to the things which were ahead.
He was going to press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus (Philippians 3:13-14 KJV).
His way of thinking was one of moving on, of embracing what was next in his life.
That is what the Father wants for our lives.
He desires that our focus be one that guides us to a place where we are shaped into the image of the Savior.
He wants us to keep our eyes fixed on all the blessings He has in store for our obedience.
The greatest being a life of eternity with Him in Heaven.
Today, decide to move onward and upward.
Putting away all past failures.
Walking in the way of the Master.
Always striving to do the things that are pleasing in His sight.
A WORD OF PRAYER
Father, we know that when we run this race called life, we must never stop short of the end, to seek Your face. To learn of Your ways and continue to press forward. Keeping Heaven in our view. Thank You for providing everything we need to make to the end and be victorious.
