I sent you to reap that whereon ye bestowed no labour: other men laboured, and ye are entered into their labours. John 4:38 KJV
With any project or mission, everyone involved has a part to play.
The part we play has an impact on the outcome.
It does not matter how small or big the position is, the outcome is to be one of complete success.
In John 4:27-42, the Lord tells us about the effects a conversation can have on someone.
In the Samaritan woman was planted the seed.
It was planted when she said, “I know that Messias cometh, which is called Christ: when he is come, he will tell us all things.”
It was watered when the Lord responded, “I that speak unto thee am he” (John 4:25-26 KJV).
She was amazed at the extent of His knowledge of her sins and the power of His words.
You could say it was like a field in which seeds had been planted and only needed to be harvested.
From there the seed began to grow and spread because the Samaritan woman left to tell others about Him.
The more she spoke, others chose to see Him for themselves.
That is where the Savior told the disciples about the manner of planting a seed and harvesting it.
He told them that the initial work had been done and that they needed to tend to the growth.
How it was their task to reap the harvest for the sake of Heaven.
They may not have done the initial work of bringing them to where the Lord was, but it was their duty to encourage all who were there to know what His will and plan was for their lives.
As Christians, we all know that any one of us can plant the seed, which is the Word, into someone’s life.
It will continue to grow as we continue to water it with the wisdom we have obtained.
Being a living testimony to all He has done in our lives.
Anticipating a harvest time of joy.
The time when they truly give their lives to Christ.
Seed and harvest times are beautiful times when all Christians work together to bring to completion God’s eternal plan.
A time of celebration.
If by the Savior teaching one woman was led to spreading knowledge to a whole town, imagine what each of us can do.
Until He returns, there will always be a time to plant a seed, water it, and see the harvest that comes from it.
A WORD OF PRAYER
Father, we know that it takes both the planting of the seed and the harvesting of the growth for the crops to be brought in. Meaning it takes all of us to do our part in telling someone about You, watching their growth, and seeing the fantastic ending to their growth. How they were brought into a life filled with faith. Let us never forget that it only takes acknowledging You to one person that the seed is planted. As it grows and spreads, more souls will be harvested. Let us do our part so Your purpose is fulfilled.
In Jesus’ Name We Pray, Amen
