To Be Under the Lamb

Read: John 1: 26-32

The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world. John 1:29 KJV

When we see the word lamb we think of a young sheep.

But another definition is, a person who is gentle, meek, and innocent.

In Christianity, the lamb is representative of Christ.

The Lamb of God.

He symbolizes gentleness, innocence, and purity.

The symbol of suffering and being triumphant.

The One who took away the sins of the world.

Sins that cause a barrier to form.

Keeping us from becoming righteous.

God could have taken away sin, by taking away the sinner.

Just like He took away the sin of the old world.

But Jesus was made a sin-offering for us.

John preached about repentance.

He told his followers that they were to look for the pardoning of their sins through Jesus only, and to His death.

It is good to know that God will forgive our sins and take them away because of the sacrifice of His Son on the cross.

We should not hold on to that which the Lamb of God came and took away.

That is why John’s testimony concerning Christ was one that would lead people to Christ.

That for us to receive His forgiveness, our sinful pride and self-righteousness must stop.

Salvation is received, not achieved.

Only Jesus can take away our sins and give us His righteousness.

Are you under the Lamb?

A WORD OF PRAYER

Lord, You are known as the Lamb of God. All because the Father gave You to be killed like a lamb for our sins. Making it possible for us to be forgiven and live forever with You in eternity. You didn’t have to do it, but we are forever thankful that You did. May we show our gratitude by praising Your name, living by Your Word and telling everyone we know about all You have done. You are our only hope of righteousness. Thank You Lord for being the Lamb who was slain.

In Jesus Name We Pray, Amen
