Today’s Reading: Jeremiah 22:26-30
Today’s Verse: “O earth, earth, earth, hear the word of the LORD.” Jeremiah 22:29 KJV
Teachers use attention grabbers to set the tone for a lesson. They want to get our attention.
“O earth, earth, earth.”
Jeremiah said this before delivering a harsh message from God.
Three times he repeated the word. He wanted to hear him. He wanted them to understand the extreme importance of the message he was bringing from God.
It was a solemn, urgent cry for all creation to pay attention.
Jeremiah had a message for. King Jehoiachin. The King was also known as Coniah. The message spoke about the bad future of the royal family.
The king had been unfaithful and disobedient. God tasked Jeremiah with telling him that he would exile him to a foreign land and strip him of his royal lineage.
His actions influenced his family. None of his descendants would prosper or sit on the throne of David. They would not rule in Judah. It was a powerful order.
God was making a universal decree when He had Jeremiah call out to the “earth.” It was decreeing that Gods judgement was absolute. It would affect everyone.
It was a call for the physical earth to bear witness to the end of the Davidic dynasty. Severe consequences come with defying God’s Divine Laws.
God has not selected just a few of us to serve. He has selected the entire earth. This means we all are a part of His Master Plan.
Let us pay attention and “hear the Word of the Lord.”
We all want to receive God’s blessings for generations to come.
A WORD OF PRAYER
Heavenly Father, we know that You are the Creator of Heaven and earth. You hold all power in Your hands. The universe is at Your command. We must continue to listen to Your Word. To open our ears and heart. We should not ignore Your truth. Let us have a deeper hunger to hear and obey You. We decree over our lives to hear Your Word. To command everything that blocks us, that causes trials and struggles in our lives to bow to Your command. We want Your peace, provisions, and purpose to manifest in our lives. Thank You for speaking life into us.
