Today’s Reading: 2 Chronicles 20:14-19
Today’s Verse: “And he said, Hearken ye, all Judah, and ye inhabitants of Jerusalem, and thou king Jehoshaphat, Thus saith the LORD unto you, Be not afraid nor dismayed by reason of this great multitude; for the battle is not yours, but God’s.” 2 Chronicles 20:15 KJV
We know the word “battle” means fight, struggle, or contest. It is used to describe physical combat or a hard, long effort to win or survive.
The phrase “for the battle is not yours, but God’s” was spoken by the Levite prophet Jahaziel. He spoke them to King Jehoshaphat and the people of Judah and Jerusalem.
They were going to face a massive, threatening enemy army. They were told not to be afraid because God would fight for them.
It was a divine message of victory.
As believers, God is inviting us to surrender all our anxieties and struggles to Him. The problems we face are His to resolve. We are released from the need to fight in our own strength.
He has given us an open invitation to stop relying only on our own wisdom or energy. He wants us to acknowledge that we cannot do it alone. To invite Him to step in.
During it all, God commands us to release our fears. He is in control. We can have peace instead of panic.
This does not mean we do nothing. Just that our primary role has shifted. We go from fighting to actively trusting Him.
We “stand still” and watch Him work. We do it while remaining obedient to His guidance.
Each day we must remember to apply His promise to our lives. That all things work according to His perfect will.
The battle is not ours, but the Lord’s.
A WORD OF PRAYER
Heavenly Father, we come to You acknowledging that we all face overwhelming situations. That there are times when we do not know what to do. Like King Jehoshaphat, our eyes are on You. We choose to cast aside our fears and discouragements. Always trusting Your promise that the battles we fight are not ours, but Yours. Thank You for fighting on our behalf. Thank You for surrounding us with Your peace. With You we have the victory.
In Jesus Name We Pray, Amen
