Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy. But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you. Matthew 5:43, 44 KJV
We all know how hard it is to maintain our temper when someone has done us wrong.
Our first thoughts are to get even with that person any way we could.
To this day there are those who still say, “Be good to people who are good to you and get even with those who wrong you.”
That is the way man wants to manage things.
The results are not always pleasant.
As Christian’s, we know that God’s way of taking care of things is vastly different.
He has told us, “Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you” (Matthew 5:44 KJV).
The Savior has told us that we are to show true kindness to all.
To pray for those who do wrong.
God’s way of dealing helps us to defeat the enemy’s way of doing things.
Defeating the “I don’t get mad, I get even” mentality.
We want to follow the Lord’s way of conquering the enemy with love.
A love that stands the tests of time.
Your love defeats anything the world may bring our way.
A WORD OF PRAYER
Lord, in our lifetime we are going to face many enemies. That it will be hard not to let evil take the place of doing good. That we give others the blessings of love not deserved. Revealing to them the same graces You have given us. Remembering man’s way will never be greater than Your way. That Your love conquers all.
In Jesus’ Name We Pray, Amen
