Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath: Neither give place to the devil. Ephesians 4:26-27 KJV
One day, while sitting outside on my porch, I saw a couple of small birds that seemed to be fighting.
It is not uncommon, most of the time it happens when one doesn’t agree with what the other one was doing.
Especially if they were trying to take something away from them.
They were swooping up and down and making a lot of noise.
It sounded like it was getting heated.
Then I noticed they weren’t at each other.
They were fighting a bigger bird that was trying to invade their territory.
They quickly came together, determined to defeat the enemy.
Combining their forces to meet the threat at hand.
The same thing happens in our spiritual lives.
We have a common enemy, Satan.
He is always looking to come between God’s people.
To keep us from coming together as one.
Paul has told us in the fourth chapter of Ephesians, that we are to put away our personal dislikes, our anger, and any self-centered desires.
Because when we yield to these fleshly impulses, we “give place to the devil” (v.27).
To “labour….to do the things which is good” (v.28).
We all know that the devil enjoys nothing more than to see us fight with one another.
It makes it so easy to have his way.
As followers of Christ, we desire to make it harder for him to steal from us (v.28).
That is why we stand together on the Word.
It is our desire to defeat him.
To have the victory over anything life brings our way.
A WORD OF PRAYER
Father, we may not always see things the same way. We have our moments when Satan tries to keep us arguing and in a sinful state. We are thankful that those are the times we set aside any differences and focus on the Word. Knowing that it is our greatest defense against anything that comes our way. We are so thankful that we know that our strength is greatest when we stand together on the Word.
In Jesus Name We Pray, Amen
