Read: Ephesians 4:1-6
Endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. Ephesians 4:3 KJV
Unity is a word for togetherness or oneness.
Disunity is found where there is false teachings, an unwillingness to change and criticism abounds.
The church is where the world needs to see unity the most.
It is seen when we fully give our lives to Christ.
Unity is not seen when we continue to find fault in one another.
It only makes the church become more divided.
Which is not what the world needs to see.
The Scriptures has a lot to say about division amongst people and amongst the church.
Jesus knew their thoughts and said to them: “Any kingdom divided against itself will be ruined, and a house divided against itself will fall. (Luke 17:11 NIV).
Unity was what the Lord desires for us all.
It was also His wish in John 17.
He prayed for all that believed would be one, just as He was one with the Father.
That they may be brought to complete unity.
We all know that there will be changes that need to be made in our lives.
We cannot grow without change.
The church will only grow when we listen to what the Father is telling us about change.
Paul knew that there must be unity in the Ephesian Church.
That unity was needed in order for the people of God to really experience God, His love, and His grace.
He is reminding us that unity will only be found when we live our lives in a way that seeks to serve the Lord.
Let us keep “the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace” (Ephesians 4:3 KJV).
To live a life that desires to serve.
To live a life that desires to Honor the Father who loves us.
A WORD OF PRAYER
Father, we know that unity is to be our goal. It is found when we take our eyes off of our desires for self-worth. We are to place them in You and the desires You have for our lives. The desires You have for the church. May we change our ways and have a deep desire to fully give our lives to You.
In Jesus’ Name We Pray, Amen
