For thou wilt not leave my soul in hell; neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption. Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore. Psalms 16:10-11 KJV
We never know what the day might bring.
Life will have its moments when we feel grief, pains, and sufferings.
Our comfort comes in knowing that God understands what we are feeling. He will grant us the peace we need when we keep our hearts and minds stayed on Jesus (Philippians 4:7).
That is how David was feeling and expressed devotion to Christ in Psalms 16.
He was speaking about the kind of peace and joy we can feel when we go to Him for protection. Cheerful and believing that He is there for us. (vv.1-2).
In everything he was going through, he never stopped honoring God (vv.7-8).
His heart was glad, in glory he rejoiced and he rested in hope (v.9).
Knowing that the Lord was with him, showing him the path he should take in life.
In our times of griefs, pains, or sufferings, just like David, we can go to God in prayer, because the more we respond to them in our own way, will only make it worse (v.4).
We are to put our trust in the Lord even when we don’t understand why we are going through certain things.
Trusting and believing because the life He has blessed us with, even in its pain, is still beautiful and good (vv.6-8).
Sin and death are destroyed when we keep our eyes toward Him,
Worldly sorrow and the pleasures we find here on earth will one day come to an end.
All destroyed when we keep Him in our hearts and with our voices ever rejoicing in Him.
All gone because Christ’s resurrection made it possible for us, true believers, to surrender ourselves into His loving arms.
Let us all find comfort in knowing that God’s love carries us through it all to a place of peace and joy.
Taking us to a place called Heaven, where at “[His] right hand there are pleasures for evermore” (v.11).
A WORD OF PRAYER
Lord, we know that we will have days that bring us sorrow and grief. Death and sin will try to destroy all our hope. That is when we need to turn to You in prayer. Knowing that You are there for us. We are thankful that when we keep our eyes toward You everything will be all right. You are the path of life and by Your power earthly sorrows will end in heavenly joy and all our pains will become everlasting happiness. Peace is ours when we turn it all over to You. Thank You for holding us in Your loving arms and always being there to guide us.
In Jesus Name We Pray, Amen
