In the multitude of my thoughts within me thy comforts delight my soul. Psalms 94:19 KJV
There are times when we all have our moments when negative thoughts consume our minds.
Thoughts of financial issues that cause stress, thoughts about how someone spoke to us in an unpleasant way, even thoughts about how a family member or friend was being treated, just to name a few.
The kind of thoughts that put any of us in a bad mood.
The best way to change our bad mood to good happens when we take some time to write out all the things that are bothering us and give it to the Lord.
Once we finish crying out to Him, we should take the time to put on some songs of praise and give Him thanks for all He is doing in your situations.
If we are not somewhere we can turn some music, we can just sing from our hearts a song of praise.
Before we know it, our whole mood will be changed.
That is how the writer of Psalms 94 was handling his situation.
He started out by saying that he knew all vengeance belonged to God (v.1).
He then began to talk about his concerns: “Rise up, Judge of the earth; pay back to the proud what they deserve…..Who will rise up for me against the wicked? Who will take a stand for me against evildoers?” (Psalm 94:2,16 NIV).
He wasn’t just talking about the things that were done to him.
He told the Lord that, “They pour out arrogant words; all the evildoers are full of boasting crush your people; they oppress your inheritance. They slay the widow and the foreigner; they murder the fatherless. They say, “The LORD does not see; the God of Jacob takes no notice” (vv. 4-7 NIV).
He was praying on behalf of all mankind.
When the Psalmist was done telling God about his concerns, he found comforts that delighted his soul (v.19 KJV).
He told God, “When anxiety was great within me, your consolation brought me joy (v.19 NIV).
He gave Him praise saying, “But the LORD is my defence; and my God is the rock of my refuge” (v.22 KJV).
God gives comfort and joy to our situations.
No matter what we are going through, when we pray, God will answer.
His Word has the power to heal our minds, hearts, and souls from any worries or pains we feel.
He will turn all our fears, sadness, feelings of helplessness into praise.
A WORD OF PRAYER
Father, it is not uncommon for us to feel frustration and anger when we see things happening in the world, to those close to us and even to ourselves. The things that do nothing to delight our souls. We are thankful that we can find comfort, peace, and pleasure when we come to You In prayer. You are our Refuge, to whom we can run too. Where we find safety and security. We give You all the honor and the praise for the comfort and joy we have through You.
In Jesus Name We Pray, Amen
