“No” Can Be Good

Read: Isaiah 25:1-5

O LORD, thou art my God; I will exalt thee, I will praise thy name; for thou hast done wonderful things; thy counsels of old are faithfulness and truth. Isaiah 25:1 KJV

There were times in our childhood when our parents would assign us chores.

If we did not do them, as a punishment they would tell us “No” when we asked for something we really wanted.

We didn’t always understand why and thought they were being mean.

With attitude, we would do our chores.

As we grew older, we found that what they had told us was what we needed to do.

It was a lesson learned.

A training and experience that helped us physically and mentally.

One that we appreciated when we look back over our lives.

Giving us more confidence in our adulthood and what we pass on to our children.

The same holds true when our Spiritual Father tells us “No”.

He has a plan for our lives.

We must keep trusting Him.

In Isaiah 25:1-5, the prophet spoke about Israel’s punishment and subsequent deliverance from her enemies.

How he gave praises to God for His plans.

He looked at them as “wonderful things” and how they had been “planned long ago” (v.1) yet demanded great efforts at times.

It is sometimes hard to hear God “No”, and even harder to understand when we are praying for something good.

Something good like the deliverance from a crisis.

Those are the times when we need to hold on the truth of God’s good plan for our lives.

A WORD OF PRAYER

Father, just like our parents wanted us to do good in our lives, we know You want the same. We may not understand why we are being told “No” but we know we need to keep trusting in Your love, goodness, and faithfulness. That You only want the best for our lives. Thank You for caring enough to tell us “No”.

In Jesus Name We Pray, Amen
