Behold, I will send my messenger, and he shall prepare the way before me: and the Lord, whom ye seek, shall suddenly come to his temple, even the messenger of the covenant, whom ye delight in: behold, he shall come, saith the LORD of hosts. Malachi 3:1 KJV
It is well known that a messenger can be the bearer of good news, bad news or brings words that challenge us.
In passages of the Old Testament, God is using His prophets to communicate messages of hope or judgement.
When we start to look closely at His Words, we see that even His Words of judgement were spoken to lead us to repentance, healing, and restoration.
That is the message that appears in Malachi 3.
The Lord has promised to send a messenger that would prepare the way for Him.
John the Baptist was that messenger.
He announced the coming of the true Messenger, Jesus (Matthew 3:11).
That He was the one that would fulfill God’s promises.
The One that will remove unwanted matter from man.
Cleansing and purifying all those who believe in His Word.
He did it all because of His love and concern for our well-being.
He did it to proclaim the Father’s message of love, hope, and freedom.
All done in a way to correct us and keep us from doing the things that cause us harm.
A WORD OF PRAYER
Savior, we know that it is by the Word we are purified and reformed. That by Your Spirit working in us we are regenerated, and our souls cleaned. Help us to not only understand Your message, but to live by what You have said. Thank You because we know that sin could have taken control of our lives, but Your compassion kept us through it all.
In Jesus Name We Pray, Amen
