Rise Above Your Past

Read: Galatians 1:7-13 / Colossians 1:1-10

For do I now persuade men, or God? or do I seek to please men? for if I yet pleased men, I should not be the servant of Christ. Galatians 1:10 KJV

Each day, we tested to see where our pleasure lies.

If we have learned how great and important it is to please God more than it is to please man.

We all know we have done some wrong things in our lifetime.

With man there is the tendency to hold things against one another.

We don’t have to defend ourselves to man but choose to live according to the Word.

When we have chosen to repent of our sins, and receive the love of Christ, we no longer try to please man and the things of the world.

The Lord has forgiven our past mistakes.

He has given us the opportunity to right that which was wrong, making it where we no longer must defend ourselves.

There will still be those who try to discourage us and lead us in a wrong direction.

We are encouraged to maintain, to keep moving forward and be more concerned with praising and pleasing the Lord, than pleasing man.

This is the attitude Paul had.

He was more concerned with the fact that if he was still trying to please man, he wouldn’t be able to be of service to Christ (Galatians 1:10).

In his preaching the gospel to the Colossians believers, he was praying that their obedience would be, not to man, but to God.

That they would be truly pleasing to God (Colossians 1:10).

He was showing us that when we are faithfully serving Christ, it is important that we do not fear the frowns of men, nor seek their favor, by using words of men’s wisdom.

That we are only to use the Words of Wisdom that comes from the Lord.

To remember that what the Lord knows about us is more important than what others may say about us.

A WORD OF PRAYER

Lord, we want to faithfully serve You, just like Paul. Not wasting any time trying to defend ourselves when harmful and hurtful things are being said about us. Praying they will understand that each of us has a past that can be forgiven. That we all still have areas of growth to achieve. We know that what You know about us is more important than what others say about us. Let us take comfort in knowing that we are walking worthy of You Lord.

In Jesus Name We Pray, Amen
