Honestly: The Truth, Always Better – Not Living a Lie

READ: Jeremiah 28

Then said the prophet Jeremiah unto Hananiah the prophet, Hear now, Hananiah; The LORD hath not sent thee; but thou makest this people to trust in a lie. Jeremiah 28:15 KJV

There are many that have a tough time with hearing the truth.

They have trouble with accepting what our “God-appointed” leaders preach about the warnings God has regarding living a sin-free life.

They only want to hear about the good things to come.

That is how the Israelites of Jeremiah’s days felt.

They did not like his prophecy.

The one where he put a wooden yoke on his neck to show them how they would soon be captives of the Babylonians.

What he was telling them was the Lord’s way of trying to help them turn an unpleasant situation to good.

But they chose to listen to the Prophet Hananiah.

The one who broke Jeremiah’s wooden yoke and told them because the yoke was broken, they had nothing to fear.

It was not the truth, and the Lord was not pleased.

The Lord sent Prophet Jeremiah unto Hananiah with a stern message.

He said, “ Hear now, Hananiah; The LORD hath not sent thee; but thou makest this people to trust in a lie. Therefore thus saith the LORD; Behold, I will cast thee from off the face of the earth: this year thou shalt die, because thou hast taught rebellion against the LORD” (Jeremiah 28:15, 16 KJV).

The Lord has a problem with those who deceive His people and those who listen to them.

All this happened because the people would prefer to hear what they wanted to hear instead of what they know to be true.

It is good to know that there are servants of the Lord who take to heart what the Lord has told them to do and not the desires of the world.

They are not being negative.

They are telling the truth.

A truth the Lord wants each of us to hear.

It is up to each of us if we receive the Word.

To take heed to what they are saying makes us wiser in all our ways.

A WORD OF PRAYER

Father, there are too many people that the truth is not what they want to hear. They feel that the message from the pulpit or missionaries should only be about the goodness of the Kingdom. They do not want to hear anything regarding sin. Help them to know that You have ordained them to tell us about the good and the bad. That all sin is to be punished. That the punishment will be harsh. Showing them the multitude of examples in the Word. It is better that we all know the truth.

In Jesus’ Name We Pray, Amen
