Pray without ceasing. 1 Thessalians 5:17 KJV
I had never heard of what some call a “foxhole prayer”, but I did understand its meaning.
It relates to soldiers who gave little or no thought of God until they needed to cry out to Him for help against the enemy.
They were praying under distress and for their lives.
We all have our moments when our prayers are done because we are afraid and in trouble.
But that is not the only time we are to pray.
We are to “pray without ceasing” (1 Thessalonians 5:17 KJV).
There will always be a time when there is darkness, but there is also light.
That means that no matter our situation we should be talking to the Lord.
Giving Him thanks for all He has done.
For all He is doing in our lives.
Hannah is an example of a woman who was disappointed because she was childless.
“She was in bitterness of soul, and prayed unto the LORD, and wept sore”, (1 Samuel 1:10 KJV).
She was always praying.
Praying during her darkest hours and praying words that rejoiced in the sunlight of God’s favor.
That is how our prayer life should be.
We can talk to the Lord anytime and anywhere.
Praying without ceasing will bring us to a point where thanksgiving is all we desire to express.
Our faith is even greater when we speak what He has told us in the Word.
We know that our darkness will always turn to light when we do.
Prayer is the key that unlocks the many doors of salvation that the Lord has for our lives.
A WORD OF PRAYER
Father, we know that prayer is the key to unlocking the doors of the many blessings You have for us. We want to have a spirit of prayer that never stops giving You praise for all the knowledge You give us. The only way we will be prepared for the darkness is when we come to the Light. Thank You for being our Light in darkness.
In Jesus’ Name We Pray, Amen
