Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me. John 15:4 KJV
There have always been moments in the Bible when the Lord had a way of explaining and clarifying some things.
Before He went to the cross, He spoke about a vine and its branches.
He was teaching them about the union between humans and Divine natures.
How the fulness of the Spirit in Him is the root of the vine, which is made fruitful by the moisture from a rich soil.
He did it to encourage His disciples.
To show them how the fruits He was trying to bear through them needed to be maintained.
How this was possible when they stayed in close relationship with Him.
The Lord knew that in the days to come, the disciples’ worlds would be turned upside down.
Because they had been with Him so long, He wanted them to remember everything He had told them.
He told them, “Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me” (John 15:4 KJV).
Christ is the true Vine.
All believers are branches of this Vine.
As followers of Christ, everyday someone is taking notice of how we carry ourselves.
They notice the way we talk and the songs we sing.
How both are inspiring.
Some even come to us and ask about the faith we show.
They recognize the close relationship we have with the Savior.
When we remain in fellowship with the Vine, there will always be life and fruitfulness.
Let us strive each day to live more simply on the fulness of Christ.
Growing more fruitful in every good word and work.
Letting our joy in Him and in His salvation be full.
Our fruitfulness for Christ is greatest when we fellowship with Him.
A WORD OF PRAYER
Savior, for us to be fruitful we must abide in You. Our union with You is by faith. You are the Vine and the closer we cling to You the more fruit we will bear. You are the blessed source of everything divine. Everything we could ever want in this lifetime. Thank You for all the times we get the pruning we need to grow even better in You.
In Jesus’ Name We Pray, Amen
