I Paul have written it with mine own hand, I will repay it: albeit I do not say to thee how thou owest unto me even thine own self besides. Philemon 1:19 KJV
There is no doubt that we all owe our lives to someone.
As children we are thankful for our parents.
We are thankful for the doctors that help us medically.
We are thankful for all those around us that have played a big part in our lives.
Thankful that we can be there for each other.
In this passage Paul, a man of God, saw an opportunity to assist a converted slave by the name of Onesimus.
He wrote to Philemon, a son in the faith, who was more like a brother to him, about Onesimus.
He knew that he had changed.
He wanted his letter to be helpful in achieving something new and better in Onesimus’ life.
It is showing us that our faith in Jesus should have a similar influence on our lives.
He is the one who has always been there for us in our times of need.
This is evident by the abundant flow of the daily blessings He gives us.
As we read the Scriptures, our spirits are raised by the Holy Spirit.
It has whatever we need to fill our hearts with gratitude.
To give us new hope in the times of despair.
The more we think about what He has done, it should make it easy for us to repay Him by living according to the Word.
To be a help to one another.
But most of all we owe thanks unto God who made it all possible.
Without Him none of this would be possible.
It is a debt that we all should want to pay.
A WORD OF PRAYER
Father, the leverage of Your love is forever tugging at our hearts. Helping us to remember the price for our sins that were paid by Christ. About the many blessings that come from above. We praise You for the many blessings and the goodness You send our way. We seek to obey You in everything we do.
In Jesus’ Name We Pray, Amen
