And I said, Should such a man as I flee? and who is there, that, being as I am, would go into the temple to save his life? I will not go in.
Nehemiah 6:11 KJV
Doing what is right is never wrong.
It can be hard at times.
That is where our knowledge of the Word really helps us.
Our habits, actions, and emotional responses are most developed when we take the Bible to heart.
It is most revealed when we must show strength to stand up for truth.
Nehemiah had to stand up for his convictions.
To show his strength in being able to stand on what he knew to be right.
There was an individual that was shut up in the house of Shemaiah.
The individual was posing as a prophet.
He told Nehemiah that they should “meet together in the house of God, within the temple.”
That they should “shut the doors of the temple: for they will come to slay thee; yea, in the night will they come to slay thee” (Nehemiah 6:10 KJV).
Nehemiah refused, because he knew that the law did not allow anyone except the priest to enter the temple.
He would rather die than disobey God’s law (Nehemiah 6:11 KJV).
The same holds true for our lives.
No matter how difficult it can sometimes be.
The enemy is always trying to frighten us into doing what is wrong and lead us to do what is sinful.
That is where our faith steps in.
Those are the times we need to ask the Lord to give us the strength and courage to stand true to His Word whatever the cost.
To be like Nehemiah and when circumstances arise, trying to get us to do wrong, say “I will not walk in”; my faith is greater.
When we take the risk to do for God what is right, our lives will always be blessed.
Try It for yourself.
Only good will come when we trust and obey God.
Keep living according to the Word.
A WORD OF PRAYER
Father, we know that the world is filled with those who would have us go against what You have told us. But doing things the right way will never be wrong. Give us the strength and courage to defeat the temptations that come our way. Our livers will always be blessed when we do things Your way. It is always true and right.
In Jesus’ Name We Pray, Amen
