No More Tossing and Turning

Read: Psalms 4

I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety. Psalms 4:8 KJV

We all give in to worrying at some point in our lives.

Tossing and turning, unable to fall asleep.

Losing sleep because we are trying to work out a solution to something that has been bothering us.

We have lost so much sleep till it is hard for us to function the next day.

Making it even more difficult to handle things.

King David wrote Psalms 4 to let us know how distressed he was concerning the situation he was in.

His reputation was being ruined because of the things people were saying about him (v.2).

They were questioning his ability to rule (v.6).

It was only human nature for David to have felt anger for all the things that were being done and said about him.

But he didn’t, instead he said, “I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety” (v.8).

He was bound and determined not to let anything bother him.

From the beginning, David was sure that God would answer his prayers (v.3).

God’s favor is happiness and that is what David found when he prayed and put his trust in Him.

He stood on the knowledge that God loved him and would lovingly meet all his needs.

When we find ourselves in times of trouble, we should do like David did.

Talk to the Lord and tell Him all about our troubles.

Then stand on the promises of God and lay down in peace, and sleep.

Knowing the Lord has made it possible for us to dwell in safety (v.8).

There is nothing more peaceful than to be in His sovereign and loving arms.

A WORD OF PRAYER

Father, no matter what we are going through, if we put our trust in You our hearts are filled with grace and gladness. We rest in Your power you’re your presence. Thank You for hearing us when we call. There is no way we could make it without You.

In Jesus Name We Pray, Amen
