And said, I cried by reason of mine affliction unto the LORD, and he heard me; out of the belly of hell cried I, and thou heardest my voice. Jonah 2:2 KJV
It is not hard to wind up in trouble when we try to do things our way.
When we know we have been told to do something a certain way and didn’t listen.
We failed to follow the directions given us.
Then we try to hide from our mistakes only to make matters worse.
It is a blessing to know that through it all God will still come to our rescue.
Jonah was a Prophet called of God to preach to the people of Nineveh (Jonah 1:2).
He did not heed God’s instructions, fled in disobedience, and was swallowed up by a fish (Read Chapter 1).
Out of the belly of the fish, he “prayed unto the Lord his God” (Jonah 2:1).
He told Him that because of his afflictions he was crying out to the Lord and the Lord heard him (v.2).
He knew that because of the sin he had committed, that fact that he was in the belly of a fish, he should be dead.
Our God is a forgiving God.
“And the LORD spake unto the fish, and it vomited out Jonah upon the dry land” (v.10).
God gave Jonah another chance (Jonah 3:1).
When we are in trouble because God is not pleased with us not following His directions, we must pray and ask for forgiveness.
Just like Jonah prayed in the belly of a whale, there is no place that the Lord will not hear our prayers.
Our experiences will be ones that encourage others, in all ages, to trust in God, as the God of salvation.
Ones that show the Father wants nothing more than to deliver us from our sins.
There is nothing like His redeeming love that causes us to sing the song that says: “I’ll say yes Lord yes, to Your will and to Your way. I’ll say Yes Lord Yes, I will trust You and obey. When Your Spirit speaks to me with my whole heart I’ll agree and my answer will be Yes Lord Yes.”
A WORD OF PRAYER
Father, we know there will be nothing but misery when we disobey or try to run from what You have called us to do. There is no place we can run or hide. When Your Spirit speaks to us, we should always be ready to say, “Yes Lord Yes!” Trusting and obeying Your every command. Thank You for Your redeeming love.
In Jesus Name We Pray, Amen
