Redeemed and Forgiven

Read: Ephesians 1:3-14

In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace. Ephesians 1:7 KJV

No matter what our family tree looks like.

No matter where we live.

No matter our social status.

We all have a story to tell of how we overcame something.

Acknowledging that there was a time in our lives when we weren’t always doing things the right way.

How sin and the things of this world have had a bad influence on us.

It would be like the old gospel song that said: If it had not been for the Lord on my side, where would I be?

How, He kept my enemies away and let the sun shine through a cloudy day.

How, He wrapped me in the cradle of His arms, when He knew I’d been battered and torn.

This is one of many songs that testifies of how sin is constantly trying to take the lead in our lives.

We have a lot to be grateful for.

That is what the Apostle Paul spoke about when he wrote to the children of Ephesus.

In the beginning of his letter (vv. 3-14), he is filled with joy at the fact that there is freedom in Christ.

He told them, “In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace” (Ephesians 1:7 NIV).

The joy he was feeling regarding this freedom is felt throughout the letter.

He is giving praise for God’s grace given to us through Christ’s death and the breaking of the chains of bondage caused by sin.

Praise because when we acknowledge Christ as our Savior, we are no longer slaves to sin.

We are set free to live for God and be the one that is used to spread the Word.

Thanking and giving God the glory for all He has done.

If it had not been for the grace of God, our ability to be redeemed would never happen.

Jesus redeemed us from the slavery of sin.

A WORD OF PRAYER

Savior, may we all come to know that Your death has given us the ability to live a life free from sin and the things of this world. Let our actions, as well as our words, sing praises unto Your name for all the mercies You have given us. Showing others that You are our redeemer and the forgiver of all our sins. Hallelujah! Thank You Lord for setting us free. We can’t make it without You.

In Jesus Name We Pray, Amen
