Spiritual Washing

Read: John 13:1-17

After that he poureth water into a bason, and began to wash the disciples’ feet, and to wipe them with the towel wherewith he was girded. John 13:5 KJV

We all have our ways of regarding, understanding, or explaining the meaning of some things.

To see something being performed.

The Lord desires that we all have a better understanding of what He has for our lives.

He had given His disciples many examples to increase their knowledge and understanding.

The same knowledge and understanding He desires all of us to have.

As we approach Holy Week (Passion Week) we are reminded of the things the Lord did prior to His death on the cross.

One being the account of Jesus, our Savior and King, washing His disciples’ feet.

In those days, even Jewish servants did not do this task.

It was seen as unbecoming.

However, Jesus did it to show them the value of spiritual washing.

That the washing was a way of cleansing the soul from sin.

It is only for those who truly desire to be cleansed.

He even washed the feet of Judas. The one who was about to break faith with Him. (John 13:11).

The things of the world will cause us to do things that are not pleasing to the Lord.

We are to let nothing separate us, as true believers, from the love of Christ.

It is up to us to trust and believe.

To live according to His examples and the Word.

What He desires to teach us is for our good.

They keep us humble and willing to serve Him and others.

Making us true believers that have been washed and received the salvation of the Lord.

Showing the same love that Jesus has given us, to our families, friends, and enemies.

Those whom Christ loves; He loves to the end.

A WORD OF PRAYER

Lord, we are Your people. You have purchased us when You paid the price on the cross. You desire that we have hearts filled with love, humble ourselves, roll up our sleeves and wash the feet of others for Your glory. Thank You Lord for the great examples You have set before us.

In Jesus Name We Pray, Amen
