Many things are passed down from generation to generation.
We learn much from the older generation.
Wisdom that comes from those who experienced a great deal in their lifetime.
They are the emotional connections that many families hold on to and pass down to their children.
Telling them stories about the family members they grew up around.
How what they heard didn’t always make sense, but as they grew up, they understood what their elders were saying.
They were thankful for all the things they learned.
That they were able to pass it on to their children.
Praying that the same knowledge would continue for generations to come.
In this passage, the psalmist expressed his concern for Israel.
They were not following the clear principles that God had set for them.
He was praying that God would “deliver and purge away [their] sins” (v.9).
That they would make a commitment to do things God’s way.
He prayed that “we your people, the sheep of your pasture, will praise you forever, from generation to generation we will proclaim your praise” (Psalms 79:13 NIV).
We should be desiring the same for the loved ones in our lives.
We should eagerly share how our lives have changed.
Our faith and testimonies help those close to us to trust in the Lord.
Prayer is the greatest form of communication with the Lord.
That the Bible is the best book to read.
They are the best ways to find answers to the many things we face in life.
That is why we are to encourage all to pray, share and live a life of faith.
Knowing that it is the best way to leave something for generations to come.
Singing praises unto the Lord for all He has done and all He is going to do.
A WORD OF PRAYER
Father, our family legacy is something we all can share. The greatest connection to pass on to the ones we love is the relationship we have with the Lord. How He has continued to bless and deliver us. Set us free from sin. It is a blessing to find comfort in knowing that our family’s faith in You will pass on from one generation to the next. We sing praises for all the things You have done for us. Thank You Father.
