Covenant Living – Quickly Willing to Really Fulfill His Plan

Today’s Reading: Jeremiah 11:1-10

Today’s Verse: “Then the LORD said unto me, Proclaim all these words in the cities of Judah, and in the streets of Jerusalem, saying, Hear ye the words of this covenant, and do them.” Jeremiah 11:6 KJV

A covenant is a formal, binding agreement. It is a promise between two or more parties to do or not do something specific.

In the Bible, it is a solemn agreement or sacred pact between God and humanity.

In Jeremiah 11:6 KJV there is a call to action. God gave the prophet a command. He was to declare His covenant to the people.

Jeremiah was to go through the towns of Judah and the street of Jerusalem. He was to tell the people to listen to the terms of the agreement. That they should actively obey them.

The message was for them to “Hear ye the words of this covenant, and do them.”

God wanted His expectations known publicly. He wanted to give the people a chance to follow the covenant. He wanted them to be obedient in their everyday living. Not just in religious rituals.

This passage is a reminder. It warns about the consequences of always being disobedient.

God never promised to bestow blessings on us while we continue to walk in willful disobedience.

Pardon and acceptance. A promise freely given to all believers.

However, a man cannot be saved if he does not obey. We must obey the command of God to repent. We must believe in Christ. He is our Redeeming Power. We must separate ourselves from sin and the world.

When we choose self-denial, and accept His Covenant, there is a newness in our lives.

Heavenly blessings are ours to receive.

A WORD OF PRAYER

Heavenly Father, we thank You for Your never-ending grace. For Your unchanging Word. We want to proclaim Your covenant just like Jeremiah. Help us to not only hear Your truth but to boldly apply them to our daily lives. Give us a willing heart. Give us a listening ear. We want to have the courage to follow Your commands. To follow them even in challenging times. Keep us from following our own desires. Guide our steps to live in way that honors You. We want to honor Your promises and reflect Your love to those around us.

In Jesus Name We Pray, Amen
