Encouragement for the Faithful Believer

Read: Malachi 3:13-18 / Isaiah 19:14-16

Then they that feared the LORD spake often one to another: and the LORD hearkened, and heard it, and a book of remembrance was written before him for them that feared the LORD, and that thought upon his name. Malachi 3:16 KJV

We all have challenges in life.

Times when we desire to talk with one another to express our concerns, get some positive feedback, and be an encouragement for one another.

To know that our living is not in vain but is worth so much more.

That we find favor in the Lord’s sight.

That all we do is for His glory.

The book of Malachi tells us about believers who faced challenges in their lives.

They were disappointed with their leaders; their worship was not like it had been and their devotion to God was changing.

How through it all there were some who remained steadfast in their faith.

They were described as those who feared the Lord and how they would get together and talk (v.16).

They spoke kindly, to preserve and promote mutual love, when sin was all around them.

They would talk one to another, in the language of those that fear the Lord, and would think on His name.

The Lord was listening, heard what they were saying and made note of their concerns.

He is always there to take care of His children.

To keep us from perishing with those who don’t believe.

The Lord has said, “And they shall be mine…in that day when I make up my jewels; and I will spare them, as a man spareth his own son that serveth him” (v.17).

We are to be vessels of mercy and honor even when the rest are made vessels of wrath and dishonor (v.18).

Never forget that, “a book of remembrance was written before [the Lord].

A book that contains all the works we have done (Hebrews 6:10), the words we have spoken (Malachi 3:16), the tears we have cried (Psalms 56:8), and the desires of our hearts (Psalms 38:9).

One that shows we have given our lives to Him, and our sins have been forgiven.

That He will no longer remember them (Jeremiah 31:3,4 / Colossians 2:24).

Granting us the eternal life He desires for us all (John 5:24).

So, when we find ourselves in the position where we are tempted to think that our service is in vain, it is not, the Lord remembers it all.

A WORD OF PRAYER

Lord, let us be faithful to You today. We want to be remembered as the one who lives according to the Word, loving others as You have loved us. Knowing that in the end instead of You saying, “They will be mine” (v.17), You will say “They [are] mine.”

In Jesus Name We Pray, Amen
