For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps. 1 Peter 2:21 KJV
From our mother’s wombs we were chosen by God.
He had a purpose for our lives.
As we grew and learned of God things changed.
We received Jesus as our Savior and chose to live a life of righteousness.
Knowing that we were called to do His will.
Making the decision to follow Christ brought us challenges.
Sin tried even more to be a master in our lives. To bring us pain and suffering.
But we can handle it. We have put or trust in God.
Peter wrote, “For it is commendable if someone bears up under the pain of unjust suffering because they are conscious of God” (v.19 NIV).
Reminding us that when we face times of discomfort and suffering, it is because of our faith.
That we press on because the more we walk in faith and not let sin take control, the more others see Jesus in us and want to know more about Him.
We can do it because, “To this [we] were called, because Christ suffered for [us], leaving [us] an example, that [we] should follow in [His] steps (v.21).
Jesus is the greatest example of suffering.
He is the one we can turn to in our times of struggle.
He is always there to give us the strength we need.
A WORD OF PRAYER
Father, from the time we are conceived. You have a plan for our lives. You sent Jesus as the example we are to follow. He knows more about suffering than anyone could ever know. There will be those who refuse to accept the changes You have made in our lives and the changes You can make in theirs. No matter the situation, help us to follow the example Jesus set, in how we conduct ourselves and suffer through. It is a blessing to know that the Savior suffered through, came out victorious and we can turn to Him for the strength we need. It will be hard sometimes, but we can do it.
In Jesus Name We Pray, Amen
