Hold thy peace at the presence of the Lord GOD: for the day of the LORD is at hand: for the LORD hath prepared a sacrifice, he hath bid his guests. Zephaniah 1:7 KJV
There are times when things around us become so frustrating that we want to lash out at those who are doing wrong.
We are at the point where we want all the foolishness to end.
We want there to be peace and harmony all around.
But we know human nature, the flesh, will only be able to handle so much.
Those are the times when we must remember what the Lord has told us.
We don’t often say much about this book of the Bible, but it has great meaning.
That would be the book of Zephaniah.
Even though it is only three chapters, it says a lot about how the Lord wants us to handle these times.
He is trying to get the people of Judah, despite all they are going through, to be silent before the Lord because the day of His judgement is coming (Zephaniah 1:7).
That they are to remain steadfast in what the Lord has told them.
Because if the people of Judah fail to do as God has told them they will be destroyed.
The consequences of their action.
We are to “hold our peace”, showing restraint in our speaking.
Getting in the habit of saying only that which the Lord has given us to say. Nothing more.
Saying it in a way that is pleasing and acceptable in His sight.
God is going to take care of all those who go against His Word.
We must keep the faith.
Our perfect peace comes when we keep our minds stayed on the Lord and what He has told us.
The earth and everything in it belong to the Lord.
God’s day is at hand.
The punishment of sinners is a sacrifice to the justice of God.
Those who remain steadfast in the Word have nothing to worry about.
He is always going to do what is best for us.
A WORD OF PRAYER
Father, there will never be a time, while we are here on earth, when the things of this world won’t present us with problems. Things we have no control over. Instead of letting them frustrate us, we need to find our peace by leaving them in Your hands. Let us listen to everything You are telling us. Sitting back and holding our peace. To remember, we will all be accountable for our actions. That You will have the final say. It is all about You. Thank You!
In Jesus Name We Pray, Amen
