Today’s Reading: Proverbs 3:21-26
Today’s Verse: “When thou liest down, thou shalt not be afraid: yea, thou shalt lie down, and thy sleep shall be sweet.” Proverbs 3:24 KJV
We all have moments when life’s struggles cause us to lose sleep.
In the olden times, even today, sleeping was a time of emotional openness.
There was a promise of good sleep. A promise that those who were following God’s wisdom and living righteous life, would find freedom from the torment of fear. Freedom from panic and any racing thoughts.
A sweet sleep that brings deep, refreshing peace.
We are trusting in God’s provision. His protection. Both allow us to let go of the day’s worries. We know that we are being held safe in His care.
When we read Proverbs 3:21-26, we learn that there are those who live rebellious or foolish lives. They have put their trust in the wrong things.
There are others that make wise godly choices. They have put their trust in the Lord. They know where their hope lies.
We know there is no guarantee that sad things will never happen. In a natural way what we go through helps us to get rid of stress and anxiety that we cause ourselves.
This passage teaches us that trusting God removes our internal torment of worry. Allowing us to rest easy knowing that He is in control.
Allowing us to sleep soundly under the protection of His grace.
A WORD OF PRAYER
Savior, as we go through this day there can be moments of stress. It is a blessing to know that we have the promise of rest and protection in You. When we lay down tonight, we ask that You quiet our minds. To calm any anxious thoughts. We cast our burdens upon You. Remove anything that tries to steal our peace. We know that You neither slumber nor sleep. We can place our fears into Your capable hands. We claim Your Word over our minds and bodies today and tonight. We know You will grant us a sweet, deep, and rejuvenating sleep. Allowing us to wake up refreshed and ready for the day ahead. Thank You for being our ultimate shield and defender.
In Jesus Name We Pray, Amen
