He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy. Proverbs 28:13 KJV
We all know there will be times in our lives when something happens, and we stray from what we know is right.
The guilt felt begins to surface.
It is causing so many sleepless nights until we can’t take it anymore.
It can be frustrating, especially for those who are already on this Christian journey and knows why we feel this way.
We speak to someone close, and they remind us that there are times we all need to confess and repent of our sins.
No long after that, a Word is being preached that is saying the same thing.
A confirmation that what you were just told is what needs to be done.
In either case, confession is the main focus of what is being said.
No matter the sin, we need to confess it to God. If someone else is involved, we need to speak to them also.
In the poetic language of Joel, he was an example of the blessings God would pour out to the Israelites if they returned to Him.
They would defeat their enemies (Joel 2:20).
Sin is our enemy. One that constantly needs to be defeated.
Joel continued on to tell the people. when they did this, the cattle would graze in green pastures (v.22).
The the land would yield bountiful harvests (vv. 24-26).
But most of all, they would sense anew God’s presence (v.27).
The same holds true for each of us when we confess our sins.
Blessings always follows when we repent of our sins.
We all want positive endings, but there may be times when a person does not forgive. And it will happen.
Even if they don’t, stay strong and keep the faith.
God will always forgive, cleanse and restore us.
We all know that His forgiveness is what matters the most.
The greatest reason for us to continue to do things according to the Word.
A WORD OF PRAYER
Lord, confession can be the hardest thing for any of us to do. We keep putting it off, thinking things will get better on their own. But they don’t. Give us the wisdom to realize this. The courage to acknowledge and confess them. Freeing us from the guilt and shame that we feel. There is nothing better than having the weight of sin lifted and the ability to live a joyful life. Thank You Savior for giving us the ability to come to You, confess, and be forgiven.
In Jesus Name We Pray, Amen
