Today’s Reading: Isaiah 54:11-17
Today’s Verse: “No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and their righteousness is of me, saith the LORD.” Isaiah 54:17 KJV
We know that a weapon is any tool or device used to hurt, kill, or defeat someone. But it is also something to protect ourselves in a fight.
Biblically, a weapon means both a physical tool for combat and a powerful spiritual symbol for fighting unseen evil.
In the Old Testament, physical weapons were swords, spears, bows, arrows, slings, and shields. They were used in Historical battles.
Physical weapons can show the difference between human strength and our trust in God. David is a good example of this (1 Samuel 17:45 KJV). David told Goliath that God is his true strength, not a sword or spear.
They can also be a symbol of peace (Isaiah 2:4 KJV). It tells us about the prophets looking forward to a peaceful future when people would change their weapons into farming tools.
The New Testament speaks to our weapons spiritually.
We have weapons of righteousness. In 2 Corinthians 10;4, the Apostle Paul has told us that Christian battles are not physical or carnal. That believers use divine power to tear down lies and strongholds.
Ephesians 6 gives us a list of the spiritual armor that God has given every believer for protection. This armor allows us to stand against the wiles of the devil (v.11).
We wear a belt of truth. A breastplate of righteousness. Shoes of the gospel of peace. A shield of faith, which stops fiery arrows. A helmet of salvation.
We must never forget that the Bible tells us we will always have trials, attacks and harsh words that will come our way.
The good news is that any attack or false accusations made against us will not succeed in the end. God is our protection.
It is a blessing to know that no weapon ever formed against us will prosper. We can stand our ground with the Lord by our side. God’s Word will always come through.
“This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and their righteousness is of me, saith the LORD” (Isaiah 54:17 KJV).
A WORD OF PRAYER
Father, we know You never promised that weapons would not form against us. That they would not harm us. You did promise that they would not prosper. Help is to stay calm and to fix our eyes on You. Knowing that any attacks that come against us in the physical or spiritual realm will be defeated. We thank You for Your Word and the unshakeable promise. You are our shield, defender and strong tower. We rebuke every false accusation, negative word, and judgement raised against us. We declare them powerless through Your grace and righteousness. Continue to fill our hearts with Your peace. Strengthen us for the journey. Let Your victory reign in our lives.
In Jesus Name We Pray, Amen
