Multidimensional Love

Read: Ephesians 3:14-21

That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love, May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height. Ephesians 3:17-18 KJV

MRI, Magnetic Resonance Imaging.

It is a procedure that uses radio waves, a powerful magnet, and a computer to make a series of detailed pictures for areas inside the body.

There have been times when a doctor may see the need for their patient to have one done.

I was reading a devotional where one lady was describing her experience with having one done.

How she laid still on the vinyl-covered mat and held her breath on command as the machine made some noise and then clicked.

She was claustrophobic. Meaning she didn’t like to be in confined spaces.

To prepare herself for the procedure, she knew she would have to focus on something or someone much bigger than herself.

In her mind, she would think about a phrase from the Scriptures.

It was, Ephesians 3:18 NIV: “how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ.”

The Scripture moved in rhythm with the humming of the machine.

Her focus was on when Paul was praying for the Ephesian’s church, he described four dimensions to God’s love for us.

How he was making known the unending areas of God’s love and presence.

So, while she was lying there meditating on the Word it provided her with a new image of understanding.

She looked at it this way.

Wide was the six inches on either side of where her arms were tightly pinned to her body within the tube.

Long was the distance between the tube’s two openings, which were extending out from her head and feet.

High was the six inches from her nose up to the top of the tube.

Deep was the support of the tube as it was anchored to the floor beneath her. It was holding her up.

For her these four areas illustrated God’s presence during this test.

And even more so in every circumstance she faced in life.

When we think about it, it holds true for our lives also.

God’s love is all around us.

When we think about the “Wide”, He is there extending His arms to reach each and every one of us.

His love is “Long”. It never ends.

He always lifts us up “High”.

His love is “Deep”, going down as far as needed to cover us in any situation.

Nothing can separate us from the love of God! (Romans 8:38-39).

Spiritual Blessing are the best type of Blessings.

The inner man gains strength.

With this strength we can make it through anything.
