What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?
1 Corinthians 6:19 KJV
In every household there is a place in it that serves as a storage area.
We all know that with time the area is becoming fuller than full.
That is when we set aside some time to try to clean it up.
To try to get things in a better order.
Unbelievably, our minds are a lot like this.
Our minds can accumulate so much clutter from the things we are experiencing in life.
As we go through life, we can pick up ungodly thoughts and attitudes.
We can begin to have the thoughts that life is all about “me.”
Always demanding our rights and reacting bitterly towards those whom we feel have hurt us.
The more these feelings prevail, our hearts and minds are no longer clean and orderly.
We all know that no matter how much we try to hide the mess, it does eventually show.
Paul was asking the question in this passage that leads to this reminder (1 Corinthians 6:19 KJV).
He has told us that our bodies are the members of Christ.
The temple of the Holy Ghost.
That we are to keep our minds and bodies from any moral or spiritual impurities.
None of us should want God to feel like He is living in a messy storage area.
Each of us must set aside a spiritual workday.
With the help of the Lord, take the time to clean up anything that should not be in storage.
Discarding the thoughts of bitterness.
Bagging up and throwing out all our old patterns of sensual thoughts.
Taking time to organize our attitudes.
Always filling our hearts with the beauty of God’s Word.
It makes us clean to the core.
Shining brightly for all the world to see how wonderful life can be when we take the time to get rid of the things not needed in our lives.
A WORD OF PRAYER
Father, we know that we are to be clean vessels, fitted for Your use. Let us make it our business to glorify You with our minds and bodies. To be determined to set aside a spiritual workday to make sure we stay clean. We want to be more like You in everything we do. Our strongest tie is being one with You. To do the work You desire us to do.
In Jesus’ Name We Pray, Amen
