Always Remember

Read: 2 Samuel 1:17-27

How are the mighty fallen, and the weapons of war perished! 2 Samuel 1:27 KJV

Every day, all around the world, we lose someone that has had an impact on ours and someone else’s life.

They showed strength and power throughout their lives.

What they had done in their lifetime gave reasons for others to consider and remember them as heroes and warriors.

When King Saul and his son, Jonathan were killed in battle, David wrote a song expressing his sorrow and pain for their deaths (v.17).

It was a song that he ordered all the people of Judah to be taught. It was called “the lament of the bow” (2 Samuel 1:18 NIV).

It was the way he grieved and honored them both with his words (vv.24-26 KJV).

Words that showed respect for and grief over the death of the man (King Saul) who had always hated and persecuted him (v.27).

As well as, words that honored Jonathan, King Saul’s son, who had been David’s closest friend and brother-in-arms (v.26).

The Lord’s way of showing us how we can honor those who have wronged us as well as those who have been friends to us.

How no matter the troubles or triumphs we face in life, the love that is found between Christ and His people is an affection that is to be readily shown.

It produces the strongest of friendships.

Ones that are never broken because of hardships.

A WORD OF PRAYER

Savior, all over the world, there is someone that is considered strong and mighty in their own way. Someone that many look at as a hero or warrior. One that is honored when they are no longer with us. For all of us that Someone is You. Because of all the things You accomplished while here on earth and Your death on the cross we can sing a song of praise and thanksgiving. We are thankful for being able to have You as a friend.

In Jesus Name We Pray, Amen
