But I say unto you which hear, Love your enemies, do good to them which hate you, Bless them that curse you, and pray for them which despitefully use you. Luke 6:27,28 KJV
History has shown us many instances when people have been judged based on their cultural background.
They were only being looked at based on their physical characteristics.
They even faced times when they were harmed by others who physically showed their dislike for them.
To this day it is still happening.
Every day we must pray and do as Jesus did as He went through being tormented and hung on the cross at Calvary.
He didn’t let what others thought of Him prevent Him from doing what was right.
He prayed for them.
Jesus said, “Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do (Luke 23:34).
When He spoke these words from the cross, they had more meaning than the hatred and insults He faced.
In the hardest hours of His life, the Savior demonstrated and taught His followers what it means to “Love your enemies, do good to them which hate you” (v.27).
To “Bless them that curse you, and pray for them which despitefully use you” (v.28).
And “Be ye therefore merciful, as your Father also is merciful” (v.36).
We all know how hard this can be.
But it is possible when we remember the powerful love that the Lord has shown each of us.
When we are truly grounded in the faith of His love, His commands are easy to follow.
His love is stronger than anything this world can throw at us.
Stronger than any form of hatred.
We can always ask Him what we should do in any situation.
He is always there to show us the way.
We know His directions are always ones that result in what is best for our lives.
A WORD OF PRAYER
Father, we have all done something that is not pleasing in Your sight. You have always graciously forgiven us. Help us to forgive others who have done wrong to us and help them see Your ways too.
In Jesus Name We Pray, Amen
