The Watchmaker

Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high. Hebrews 1:3 KJV

I found it interesting to read a devotional about a Swiss watchmaker by the name of Phillipe.

How he worked with a magnifying glass and tweezers to repair and clean watches.

How with just a couple of tools, he would take apart the detailed and essential parts of these timepieces.

Once he had cleaned them, he would make sure they were working properly.

In this process, he gave much of his attention to the mainspring.

The mainspring being the main part that moves all the gears that allows the watch to keep time.

Knowing that even the most well-designed watch would have no worth if it did not function properly.

God is our “Maker” and Christ is our “Mainspring.”

Christ is the main part of our lives, without whom we could not function properly.

He plays the biggest part in motivating and maintaining how we live.

Just like the watchman took the watch apart to examine all its parts, God did the same when it came to mankind.

He saw the mainspring was not functioning properly.

That man was living in a sinful manner and needed it replaced.

That’s when He sent Jesus as the replacement.

He was the right replacement and saved us from sin.

He was the piece we needed to obtain glory.

Without Him, we would not have the power we need be able to function in this world.

Unfortunately, there are some who do not wish to have certain parts of their lives replaced.

They wish to remain broken and continue to live in sin.

For those that do desire to function properly, we begin to look at all the pieces of our lives and become all the more thankful that Christ is the best thing that ever happened to us.

Rejoicing that even to this day, He is sitting at the right hand of the Father, willing to help us perform properly in this world.

Allowing us to witness the power, wisdom, and goodness He and the Father has for us.

We can never be thankful enough that God has in so many ways, given us the chance to be free from sin and the harm it could cause.

He is the greatest Watchman the world has ever known, with Jesus being the most essential part that works to keep our time right in this life.

He is always there to provide.

No matter the situation.

He has all the tools we need.

We have so much to be thankful for.

A WORD OF PRAYER

Father, Thank You for allowing us to look at every part of our lives, cleansing us from our sins and seeing that Jesus is the Mainspring that we must continue to look at in order to do things timely and correctly. We give You all the honor and praise for all the ways You love and care for us.

In Jesus Name We Pray, AMEN
